Year 2, Day 319: Lean On Lodge Getaway, Part 3, Homeward Bound

Bwahahahaha, you know you are out in the country when.....there's a sign that basically says, "thick road, thin road" or rather "two lane road vs one lane road."  Yup.

Speaking of talking, that's just what we did.  I don't feel like we finalized anything financially or spiritually, but we made some steps together. We needed space to explore things as they came up. We needed to be just the two of us with a very little agenda.

Back to the rest of our trip. We went to bed a bit earlier than we would at home, but I didn't sleep much. Because I had slept almost 10 hrs the night before, I was very restless the 2nd night. I think I woke up at around 3:30 and was in so much pain from my frozen left shoulder that I just couldn't get comfortable again. I keep telling others that it's not good if I sleep more than 7 hrs a night. I wake up very stiff from not moving much. Yes, the bed was pretty soft and Jared ended up with his sciatica flaring on him and I woke up with a frozen shoulder that hasn't let up since Monday (it's Friday as I type this). We both worked on each other's problem areas but only got a touch of relief. It made for a little rougher re entry into normal life than I had expected. We saw the sunrise about 7:30am and then got up, ate breakfast, and started cleaning up the cabin. We were told to wash the sheets and remake the bed. I decided that it was better to just fold the sheets indicating that they had been clean because I wasn't so sure if the people before us had done that or not. The managers of the property just had a baby and weren't very responsive to emails or phone calls either, so it didn't do much good to try to get answers. It didn't look like the previous people had taken out the trash or cleaned out the fridge. But we did the best we could to tidy up. I honestly liked not having to check in with strangers. Just come, go in, and go out. We did leave them a note about the furnace.

Aw, one cute thing was that one of the farm dogs decided to keep us company by sleeping out on the proch on the front rug all night! It was a very round chocolate lab mix. We petted it and reassured it that it was ok to stay or go. Very sweet dog who reminded us of our dog, Socks, protector of their people. I did forget to mention that there was a TV, a DVD player, and some movies, as well as games and a poker table with poker chips. So we cleaned up and Jared washed the dishes while I dried them and put them away. I can't say we have done that many times together because we haven't! Oh the sink was a big one basin sink with the water coming out of an old pump spigot. The rest of the hardware was new stuff. It was kind of neat, and Americana though! There were a couple of pretend outhouses and a covered bridge over the pond as well. And Canadian geese flew into and out of the pond!

Unfortunately, it was pouring rain all the way home, so we had to pack the car quickly (we had switched our van for Leah's car so she would have room for all the kids), and started bumping our way back down the backroads. It was a much quicker ride home than on Monday, but we still had some traffic as we neared the city again. But it was weird because it was after the lunch hour rush. Anyway, we went to Longhorn Steakhouse on another gift card, and ate some steak salad (for me) and cheese curds and nachos (for Jared). Two meals out in 3 days, just the two of us! Including fountain pop, my favorite! But I am glad to be back in my own environment with my own food and knowing what's exactly in it as well.

The Lodge, just sitting in the middle of a farmfield with a little pond next to it.

Pretend outhouse.

The doors actually closed on the bridge!

Just a pond that you can fish in (catch and release), swim in, boat in, etc.  although the dog was drinking from it and the geese were, exactly, you know what!

I always forget just how big road signs really are when you are up close to them.  Loved the Amish one!

Back of the Lodge facing west.

Part of the covered porch.

Game room/man cave/upstairs loft.

I wasn't sure if this had been alive once or not.

Not sure n the story behind the skeleton, or the helmet, but there were a couple of old canoes hanging from the ceiling.

Looking down from the open loft.  It was so much warmer up there!

More animals, including da moose!

So the main loft was on one side, and the master bedroom was on the other, with an open ceiling, so I bet you could hear some noise from the master bedroom.  Great railing though!

Yes, yes, Arrow, as in the Green Arrow, as in aka Oliver Queen, as in, well, nevermind.

Sunset the second night.
