Day 74 Tulips!

Ah, today was a special day for me.  I finally got to see the famous Vanco Tulip Farm! Vanco sells their 5 million tulips that they produce a year to all Atlantic Superstores in the Maritimes, plus sends them to Boston and Montreal! They grow their own bulbs, too, out in their famous fields of tulips.  I've always wanted to stop by in May and get a picture of the fields.  Maybe I'll do that this year.  Meanwhile, today was a homeschool field trip.  Here are a few pictures of the process.
Ready to be processed.

The greenhouse can force growth and it only takes 15 days to grow a tulip!
Irrigation and look how shallow the dirt they grow them in is!

New added to the warehouse.

Uprooted, ready to be processed.
I tried not to get workers in my photos, so, this is a part of the equipment they use in packaging.

Adding string to make bunches of tulips.

So glad little man can sit in the big boy stroller now!

You know you are a homeschooler when....you let your daughter buy white  tulips so you can show the kids how certain flowers can "drink" colored water and it will change the color of the tulip!  Lol.
