Day 291: At Home

While Jared was off working on more windows at a friend's house, and Grandma, Grandpa, and Benaiah were riding bikes in California, Keturah, Justin, Abishai and I got to stay in our pj's all day!  I had thought about going to the pumpkin patch today, but the weather was iffy and I was still hurting from yesterday.  Plus, I just wanted to get our studies started for the week.  We may go to the pumpkin patch tomorrow instead.

So, we played, read books, did our schoolwork (including writing out some Scripture to practice our handwriting, all 3 of us), completed our chores, used washable paint to make footprints and handprints (which should have been done back in February when Abishai turned), made apple pie, played video games, and tickled each other a lot.  It was a great day!

Abishai doesn't know what he wants to eat and throws things when he's mad.  He does get more involved in TV shows, but is a positive because I can let him watch a short show while I'm getting something else done.  He liked the new Thomas and Friends, although I prefer the older ones with real toy trains.  I finally had to put away the micro machines because he was taking them everywhere.

Justin and Keturah completed their tasks without complaining  today, yeah!  It took a bit of prodding to get them to stop daydreaming though.  Jared got home really, really late again, but he plans to be working from home most of the rest of the week.  Benaiah rode bikes with Grandma and Grandpa, enjoying the 90 degree weather (blech, I don't like heat) and they also saw a large funeral for police officers killed last week in the area.  Some officers came from as far away as NYC.  Wow.

Benaiah looks like he's taking a nap for the movie.  This was from last night when they went to see Queen of Katwe, a movie about an African girl that plays chess internationally.

Memorial for fallen police officers.

Bike riding.

Somber pictures of the funeral.

It's not a Johnson vacation unless you have ice cream every single day!

Bathtime yesterday.

Crazy hair!

Yes, these two still love taking baths together.

My fashionista who wore those boots all day long today!  Mind you, I have the a/c on at 75 degrees or so.  She's just happy she's big enough to fit into them this year.

Cheese!

Trying to imitate Keturah posing in the hallway.  He ended up doing the splits!

Peeling and cutting apples the easy way.

Apple pie for the oven.  I can't eat the crust, but I went ahead and made the filling with xylitol.  I eyeballed lemon juice and cinnamon.

Abishai learned how to put the chips into the connect 4 game!

Thomas and friends!  And both Justin and Keturah were watching it, too.

Who's hiding in my closet?

Dancing to the sound of the beater, Abishai's favorite pasttime in the kitchen.
This is what happens when baby gets mad.

Finished apple pie.
